Who do I go to with a TV show idea?
I have had an idea for a TV show for a couple of years now, too scared to tell anyone all about it as there is no copyright on TV shows so can anyone tell me or have any ideas of how I can go about getting this done??

There is no show like it in the world. I believe it is an untapped area in the TV market but I don't know what to do now.

I have emailed TV stations but as this is just an idea and I have no media experience and don't know how to make it myself I am at a loose end.

    Any ideas anyone??

    Hello michelle:

You're right. If you present your idea to any entertainment executive, and it's a GOOD idea, they'll steal it.

Therefore, you're going to need to produce the show yourself. I know you don't have any experience... So, this is a great way to get it.

What do you do FIRST? Raise money. How do you do that? Write a script, or a treatment, or a pilot, or a summary or whatever... Form a corporation (cheap to do), and take your idea to people with money. Sell 'em shares.

When you've got enough money, rent a studio, hire a crew and go to work.

Oh, then you'll need to SELL the show... but that's down the road a piece.

    Hi, michelle3776!

I would suggest getting in touch directly with a local producer to help you with this. If you go to a public broadcasting television station, you might find those who would be more keen to listening to you as well as helping you.

I would also suggest doing it in person rather than via any electronic communication. You could stop in the station and speak with someone who might be able to get you an appointment to see a producer.

I wish you well in your endeavor!
