How to socialise?

Asked Jan 24, 2011, 12:46 PM — 5 Answers
I am here to ask how to socialise. I mean starting a coversation may be easy. Ok everyone greet each other. But how do you keep it going. I hate the silence. I somehow crave to have conversation.

People are different. So called extroverts are out going and unafraid of socialization but introverts (like me) are quiet and reserved. Examples of extroverts are Actors, TV Personalities and Politicians. If your an introvert like me, conversations can be a little frustrating but over the years you will come out of your shell. Taking a course in public speaking or trying out for theater can help you to overcome your fears and open up. For me I didn't mind being introverted and I liked being by myself. I had a close group of friends at school but kept away from others for the most part. I did join theater, but I went for stage crew because I was too afraid to go on stage, I would get horrible butterflies and sweat like a pig in that kind of situation. Reading can also help you to converse more effectively as you learn more you can enter conversations about the things you have studied and remark with some authority. But basically it takes time and effort to become more social.

Well ask questions like "so do you have any pets?" don't use that one lol but ask questions and then you might find something in common then talk about it!

Here's a couple example of what you could do.

I was in the club only just walked in, and there was this lovely girl surrounded by guys wanting her attention - and I walked up to her, and said I liked her dress, she said thanks then I asked if they had it in my size. I had her attention for the entire evening until we kissed goodbye, and she gave her number to me.

I was in the gym working out, so was this other dude I asked him why on earth do we keep coming here? It's hard, we're always sore and we always need to take a shower when we come home.

To casual strike up a conversation, find something you can see and then tell the person your thoughts about the subject, make it fun and short and you got yourself a conversation.

Not everyone will indulge you in a profound conversation - but some will and I'm always satisfied.

Best of luck to you.

I should really go to bed, I did not notice you wasent looking for a conversation starter.

Erm, if you go about it funny, or your into what your talking about. People seem to be interested in what your talking about, including pets

I don't think there's a easy answer for how to keep the conversation ongoing other that find a mutual subject your both enjoy talking about.
