I got some virus that was sending me 3,000 e-mails a day all maildeamon and postmaster returned mail from all different addresses..

Anyway I ended up loosing that address and my web site (both connected) and got a new address, but now can't get onto the internet on that lap top, so I wanted to do a complete recovery F-11 as you know and it seems that this virus has deleted my F-11 or is holding it ransom.

Does anyone know of a way to do a complete recovery other than F-11 I have tried about 10 times now and no matter what I do I can't get F-11 to do anything.

I can use the computer for word processing and other things but still would like to do the recovery.

You keep refering to an F11 recovery.
What exactly are you expecting this to do ??
I have never come across this as a recovery option.

If you are having connectivity issues with your machine after a virus infection, the only sure fire away of completely removing any traces is a FULL rebuild.
Start over with a format and reinstall.

I have used F-11 several times it actually deletes everything on your HD and reinstalls what ever your operating system is, (windows XP) in this case, very handy tool.

OK that's obviously system specific then as my HP's don't have that option.

What you have to do is turn your machine off and while it's booting up you keep taping F-11 try it, you just cancel it when it appears, I'm pretty sure it's a windows thing.

Anyway back to the matter at hand.
Time to get yourself an XP CD and bite the bullet.
You could try a repair install first, but it may be a complete waste of time.

Just go for the full rebuild.

Yes maybe that's the only way, I'm supprised you don't have it unless yours is F-8 thanks for the info
