Scanned files will not send through Outlook.

Basically the individual scans a lot of paperwork. The individual has an HP L7950 all in one printer. And when they try to send a scanned file through an e-mail it kind of just locks up. Also we have tried changing the resolution of the scanned file to make smaller. And also turned off Norton. Also these are black and white files. Any help!!??

What are the sizes of the files and what file types?
