Are you sure? I haven't used OE in awhile, but I used to do that very thing.

To export the address book:
  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Select FILE > EXPORT > ADDRESS BOOK
  3. Select Text File (Comma Separated Values)
  4. Click EXPORT
  5. Type a file name in the "Save exported file as" input box
    For example type, "C:\MYADRBOK.CSV"
  6. Click NEXT
  7. Optionally select the fields you wish to export and/or click FINISH
  8. Click CLOSE once the exporting is completed
The .CSV file will import into Excel nicely.

Ah, well, there's the thing. The groups are an internal feature to Outlook.

Why Excel? What's the goal here? I don't know of any eport methodology that converts that info, only the basic contact info.

How many contacts and how many groups? (I thought you could export to CSV) If its not too many you can easily assign groups in excel.
