Upconverting to 1080i - PAL vs. NTSC signals?

Hello,

I am moving from the US to SE Asia where the TV signal standard is PAL (vs. NTSC used in the US). I plan to take my 1080i HDTV flat panel with me - but this only works on NTSC.

I plan to use a ComWorld COM-1500 to convert the PAL signal to NTSC (this had good reviews). HOWEVER - I also have a home theater receiver (ONKYO) that upconverts input signals to 1080i. This receiver is from Singapore and I know it works for the PAL signals. BUT, if I input an NTSC signal from my COM-1500, will this receiver still upconvert to 1080i?

NOTE: I believe that the type of input signal (PAL or NTSC) does not impact the upconversion - but am not sure.

Please help! ... ... this is a very expensive dilemma for me.

Thanks,
