receiver-vcr-tv hookup

I have a splitter on the coax feed with one line going into the satellite in and the other going into the TV. With the addition of a VCR/DVD combo. I ran a line from the receiver's TV Set Out connection to the VCR/DVD's In From Antenna and from the VCR/DVD out connection to the TV. I get the satellite channels fine but the local channel are snowy, What have I done wrong
