DVD drawer will not stay open

DVD drawer will not stay open

I have a Mustek DVD player about three years old. When I push the eject button the DVD drawer opens but returns immediately to the closed position. My question is this:- Is the drawer limits (in and out) controlled electronically or mechanically?
