Wiring two recessed lights with an end run switch
I was wondering how to wire two recessed can lights using a 20 amp breaker. I plan to run 12/2 wire(my power) to the first can then connect the second can then run 12/2 wire from the last can down to a single pole switch. Can I do all of this with 12/2 or do I need to use 12/3 between the cans. If I need 12/3 how do I wire this. Thanks.

Seems like your wire and your breaker are over kill for 2 recessed light s but it can be done. You are only running a hot to the single pole switch, the other wire becomes hot once you throw the switch and that wire along with a white neutral are all that runs to the light fixtures. We do recommend that you also ground fixtures with bare or green ground, usually already in a 12/2
