I am in the process of wiring a spa. My disconnect box will be 6 ft. from the spa. My question involves the wiring from the disconnect to the spa. Can I run the appropriate wire in liquid tight conduit above ground (6 ft.) to connect directly to the spa. The conduit will be sitting on a bed of large stone. Thanks

I agree, unless the LF?C is subject to physical damage. What's considered "subject to physical damage", is up to the authority having jurisdiction. Note: Some areas may be obivious when considering rather the conduit can be damaged or not. Example: High traffic areas

The liquidtite can be up to 6' in length, no more.

I would run sch80 PVC and then change over to LFC near the tub.

A spa or hot tub installed outdoors shall comply with the provisions of Parts I and II of this article, except as permitted in 680.42(A) and 680.42(B), that would otherwise apply to pools installed outdoors.

(A) Flexible Connections Listed packaged spa or hot tub equipment assemblies or self-contained spas or hot tubs utilizing a factory-installed or assembled control panel or panelboard shall be permitted to use flexible connections as covered in 680.42(A)(1) and (A)(2).

(1) Flexible Conduit Liquidtight flexible metal conduit or liquidtight flexible nonmetallic conduit shall be permitted in lengths of not more than 1.8 m (6 ft).
