Wiring diagram for reversible motor needed
I'm trying to wire the below motor to a double pole/double throw toggle switch. The toggle switch has 6 terminals. There are 5 colored wires coming out of the motor - black, white, green, orange and red. The motor has a starter capacitor, is reversible and I'm using it with 115v. Can anyone help?

Swapping the orange and red will reverse the motor.
The switch needs/should have a Center off, unless application doesn't need it.
Or should not be easily accessible to avoid quick reversing.
You want to have 2 wires going from corner to corner on the 4 outside terminals, the red and orange need to be interupted by this switch.
Orange and red from 1 end need to connect to 2 end terminals, 1 on each pole. Then the other red and orange go to the 2 center terminals.

The post above is to reverse the motor using a DPDT switch. However
You should use a Triple pole triple throw switch.
2 poles will be wired as above for the red and orange.
Then the line(black) will go the center terminal of the 3rd pole of this switch. Jump the outer 2 terminals, connect the motor black to either end of this jumper.
Will see if I can find a diagram if this doesn't make sense.

You probably really want something like this: DAYTON 2X440 Switch, Drum Reversing - 4.50 In. - 4.00 In. - 2.25 In. - Maintained

    Note: wholesale only

Here's the diagram I described above:

The bottom red wire is really a white, and the blue and yellow wires in the center are your orange and red.

I have an AO Smith 123/230 volt reversible motor for an boat lift. A black and a red wire extend from inside the motor and connect to a orange and red wire from the up and down switch which puts 120 volts on either wire depending on up or down position. The motor went bad. I purchased a motor from Graingers which they said would work. Well the motor is reversible but you have to switch the red and black wires which are landed on bayonet stakons inside the motor. How would I make this work to maintain the original application.
