Wire type for service Disconnect

I am installing an new service disconnect and meter base on the back of my garage/pole building. I have run wire underground from the new meter base to the house to get rid of the overhead and will be replacing the service to the house.

My question is what type of wire is needed out of the service disconnect (line side) to the weatherhead for the EC to hook up to the incoming line.

Next question is on the same lines. Going into the house will be a disconnect as it is too far from the main service disconnect. From there to the new breaker panel, which type of wire is to be used. This is a 200A service.

Thanks
Kevin

You can use 4 wire aluminum URD cable, rated USE for direct burial. you can use a large conduit as a sleeve for extra protection, and under paved areas for easy replacement if needed.

Or you can use PVC Schedule 40 conduit with all the fittings for a continuous raceway system, and pull aluminum wires with XHHW insulation or THHN/THWN copper wire.

Inside you can use 4 wire aluminum SER cable.

For 200 amp residential, you can use 3- #4/0 Al or 3-#2/0 copper. The fourth wire, equipment grounding conductor, can be minimum #6 copper or #4 al.

Be sure to connect the neutral, equipment ground, and the grounding electrode conductor all together at the main disconnect. The neutral and equipment ground will be separated at the panel.
