    White rogers thermostat 2 stage heat 1 stage cool
    Anyonw know how to hook this up with a dpdt relay
    There is 5 wires , outdoor heat for stage 1 heat , propane gas for stage 2 hear

    Really depends on the purpose of the DPDT relay. Any one of the output terminals on the stat, assuming that R is the input, can energize the coil of the relay, usually terminals #1 & 2 on a plug in relay.

    The remaining 6 terminals are the contacts of the two switches in the relay, which can be #3 common #4 NC and #5 NO for one switch, and ditto for #6,7, & 8. These two switches can either start something across the C and NO, or stop something across the C and NC.

    NC= Normally Open and NC=Normally Closed

    The relay is to operate my stage 1 and stage 2 heat sorce from 1 thermostat,
    But I`m not shure how to hook it up,, as far as the w,g,y,r,c
    It takes 5 wires
    There is 6 #`s and the l&r side for the coil
    Where the lines have a (/) going through is that where the relay opens and closes, if so me fan should be hoohed to one of these correct?

    Do you want boths stages of heat to come on at once? This relay will do that. Two stage heating usually is first stage then later the second stage.

    The stat can also turn on air conditioning and a blower fan. Does your system have either?

    No I want my main heat (stage 1) and my back up heat (stage 2) (propane) to kick on if the temp drops 10 deg. My system has a/c ,blower fan it`s like any thermostats , but it can control 2 heat sorces. I assume that the relay keeps everything in line so that both heat sources don`t kick on at the same time , or so the a/c and the heat don`t kick on at the same time

    No,once you send 24 volts to the coil of the relay, the coil will pull in and close boths sets of NO contacts.

    Is the propane heating system separate from the main heating?

    You would be better off using a two stage thermostat, as the relay will not do what you propose.

    This is a 2 stage thermostat( 2 stage heat , 1 stage cool)
    Yes the propane would be seprate the heat from the outdood furnace is being circulated through a heat exchanger that is in the duct, and that heat just needs blown through the ducts, that will be my main heat and propane will be my back up heat
    Shouldn`t the relay let the furnace cycle , but not let the furnace blower turn on but it should let the fan turn on blowing my main heat through the ducts , so if I set my back up heat 10 deg lower then if the fire in the outdoor wood burner goes out , ant the temp in the house drops 10 deg , then the back up heat will take over .

    OK I have hooke this up but I`m stumped ,I have energized the fan constantly,, how do you jump a heat pump terminal for the stage 2 heat
    I realized that this thermostat is a 2 stage heat and 1 stage cool
    But no matter how I hook it the fan and or blower will stay energized,, I`m guessing the only way is to jump the heat pump terminal to something , to get the stage 2 heat , without keeping the fan energized?
