Using Aluminum Cable for 100 Sub Panel
I'm going to be installing a 100A sub panel in my garage and need about 125 feet of cable. The price of aluminum is about 1/3 of copper so I'm just wondering what needs to be done differently when installing aluminum vs copper? Is it worth the hassel and/or risk?

    Thanks in adance!

Nothing wrong with Aluminum for the panel cable size needed. A 100 amp sub panel will need a 4 wire cable like SER. Use an oxide inhibitor before torguing in the lugs. #1 SER will work fine with room to spare. Nm

Radar, If the garage is detached then SER is not for underground direct burial like USE is commonly used. Nm

Sub panel on 100 amp service [ 1 Answers ]

I have a small single family house with 100 amp service. By my calculations, 100 amps is fine but the panel only has 8 circuits and I am adding a number of circuits with a bathroom/kitchen remodel. I am thinking that adding a subpanel for my kitchen will be cheaper than replacing my main panel...

100 amp panel voltage [ 3 Answers ]

When looking for a problem with a double 15 amp circuit breaker, I measure the voltage at the 2 main feeds. One measured 115 volts and the other only 80 volts. Then disconnecting the main feeds from the 100 amp panel they both were 115 volts. My question is if this is caused by a loose neutral wire...
