    Switch has black,red, white and ground. Box only has black, white and ground.
    It is a pass and seymour RT1 time switch 7 button preset

    You cannot use this switch in that location.

    You have a switch loop, where the power is being brought in on the white and back on the black, with no neutral present in the box. A perfectly typical and common installation.

    You need a timer that does not require a neutral.
