Strong smell when using my vacuum cleaner
After using my vacuum cleaner for 15 minutes, I started to notice a strong smell, it's not a burnt smell, and the vacuum cleaner seemed to still work, although I turned it off immediately. This has happened 2 times. The bag inside isn't full, and the vacuum cleaner isn't hot at all.

How likely is it that a malfunctional vacuum cleaner will burn the fuse or affect the circuit of my house? I am not worried about breaking my vacuum cleaner itself, just worried about causing other harms.

    Thanks.

If it's an upright check the belt and the brush.

Thanks. No I have no pets, I did check the belt and the brush and couldn't see anything. Will I risk breaking other things (e.g. fuse) if I continue to use it? Cheers.

Unless the smell is coming from the outlet, then I'd rule out an electrical problem within the homes wiring.

Best vacuum cleaner? [ 2 Answers ]

I am thinking about buying a new vacuum cleaner and would like a recommendation on one that you have found to be good at really suctioning up the dirt. Price is not a factor.
