Don't want to use remote-Hampton Bay fan
I have installed a new Hampton Bay fan that has a remote- I prefer using my dimmers on my wall switch- one for fan, one for lights- but Hampton Bay Help Desk said I can't do that- I must use the remote! Is there any way to get around the remote? We can hook up the fan so it works on ONE wall switch but how can I separate it to work on two?

I think there are some electric motors that won't run right on a dimmer. To switch such a motor from a wall switch, you would have to run a separate wire for each coil to the switch. The light should be OK if you put it on high with the remote and leave it. If it defaults to dim when you first turn it on, buy pass the switch in the lamp completely.

I felt it necessary to add that standard lighting dimmers are not suited to control motors. The motor will be damaged after sometime. The dimmer will also be damaged.

You really should use a speed control or a dimmer rated to handle inductive loads such as motors.
