Why would a 30A circuit be used for lighting? I assume it's feeding a subpanel somewhere, have you checked that?
-
Is it a GFCI Receptacle? What room is it in? Kitchen or bath?
-
-
What do you have for a panel, I can give you the part # for the retainer clip. Also, you can't use the 2 spots across the main.
-
Copper or aluminum conductors? Are you sleeving it in pipe, direct burying it, ariel? And that's a pretty far run explain your situation to us.
-
Yes you can, you could put in any size breaker or breakers you want. Just a note, make sure the outlet in the Bathroom is a GFCI.
-
The neutral does not need to be broken. The generator frame should be grounded, and the neutral should remain unbonded.
-
877-527-0313 I believe that is Hampton Bay customer service. They should be able to tell you if you can pair the two together.
-
What is the dimmer model #? Is it a normal single pole dimmer or is it a 2 circuit split dimmer?
-
Can you be more specific. What wires come from where?
-
I agree, but I think that is what the OP is doing. He needs to do a load calc.
-
What is the model of your main panel and model Arc fault you are installing. Cutler hammer has a new arc fault that has 3 led's that will allow you to trouble shoot why it is tripping. It also...
-
What do you mean? If you mean can the sum of all the breakers in the panel exceed 200 amps? Then yes. You can have say, 300 amps worth of breakers because it's unlikely you will have a full load on...
-
You should be able to shut off the water going to the HW tank, rather than the whole house.
-
Ammonia smell is most likely cat pee. It's possible the cat peed long ago and it dried. Perhaps the tank is leaking and when it did it re-wet where the cat peed before, thus giving you the smell from...
-
Might have a loose connection in the fan box.
-
Are you running AC or DC through it? And do you know what brand pipe it is? Where are you? And why is the AHJ quoting code from 2005?
-
@ MA, do you think he saw a GE buss bar at HD? Not a chance, a panel or ground or neutral bar definitely, but never a buss bar... Unless GE has started selling replacement busses as a standard...
-
I wouldn't. He said bus bar, but he also said he had breaker slots available. Breaker slots would mean he has room on the bus. He also he didn't have enough lugs on the bus bar available. That would...
-
@OP are you referring to the ground and neutral bars that have wires going into them rather than the bus bar that the breakers snap onto? If so is your question can you use another brands ground bar...
-
It kills me, but I agree, chances are you're not noticing the tripped breaker. Might want to check outside outlets too. Is there an LED on the GFCI outlets?
-
I'm lost... Looking for 3 120v legs, each phase to neutral would give you 120v.
-
Note the rating on his ballast. 120 OR 277. How would 240 work?
-
The OP wanted to know if he could wire a ballast rated at 120-277v with 240v single phase. And it simply can't be done. You would be feeding the neutral on the ballast with 120v. How would that not...
-
How can an electronic ballast operate without a neutral?
-
Sounds like you have a high leg delta system. Next job you have, wire the ballasts 240V and let me know how you make out. I'm not going to go back and forth. Let me know when I can sell you a...

I was using election year math... :)

Damn phone...
1st quarter $0 dollars
Since April is that start of the 2nd quarter, quarters 2, 3, and 4 should be the same.
For the one in may, 1st would be zero. 2nd would be n x 2, 3rd...
-
I'm not an accountant but I'd imagine you divide the amount by how many months are left in the year then multiply that month expense by the number of month per quarter...
$185,000 / 8 = n

Tk, just a question, I've heard in parts of Maine you inspect your own work... Is that true?
-
I think you responded to the wrong thread... PIC?
-
Can you post a pic? Is it a single socket with 4 leads? And your 3 terminal seems to have 4 leads, making it a 4 terminal... Please clarify.
-
Depends on the particular application. What voltage is present, and is it a switch leg?
-
Tell the Sylvania guy to go back to school. There is no such thing as a 120/277v panel. Your options are single phase - 120/240v or three phase 120/208v or three phase 480/277v. You can't get 120 out...
-
Sounds good. Give it a try, let me know when you cook the ballasts and need new ones. I'll sell them to you cheap. Trust me on this one.
-
What are you talking about? The A/C unit doesn't need to be fused at the disconnect, so you would just use a 25 or 20 breaker as per my previous comment. I imagine this is a residential...
-
I would use #10 wire and fuse it at 25 amps, the recommended max over current rating. You could probably get away with #12 at 20 amps as well. Is this a single phase or 3 phase unit?
-
I'd use a #2 split bolt, (burndy), make sure it is dual rated cu/al then wrap it in tape. Or some NSI Polaris lugs, then you don't have to tape it.
-
100% agree. I read he installed a box on the house, assumed it was outside an piped in PVC. I got to stop assuming.
-
What did he charge you, and what did he do?
-
It will pass inspection. Electrically it's safe and sound. Just 'lose' the manual the day of the inspection.
-
At that point he's off the hook. If you want it re-wired, you're going to have to pay for it to be redone. Just so you know you probably only saved a hundred bucks or so going with #8.
-
Good call on keeping it all PVC.
You can use USE, XHHW-2, URD quadplex. If you go copper, you can use THHN/THWN
-
I recommend a supply house over a big box store. Make sure the #2 XHHW is type XHHW-2
-
I would sleeve #2 XHHW in the 1 1/4 PVC, use an LB to get into the house (looks better, and much cheaper than a PVC junction box). Nipple through the wall into a 6 X 6 X 4 metal junction box, then...
-
Do you already have the fixtures? If so what is the ballast part #? At a minimum what type of lamps, T8, T5, and how long are they?
-
Really? If you want us to take 5 minutes out of our lives to help, which I don't think any of us mind doing, could you please take 5 minutes to give us the whole scenerio? We need details, you can...
