Replace chain pull from light on light/fan fixture
I pulled the chain out of its housing that controls only the light on my kitchen light/fan fixture. I went to a hardware store and the clerk sold me a little fixture with three wires, pink, white and black. When I took my fixture apart, I found my fixture has a two wire little round thing where the chain originally came out of. My problem is that little part is connected to a ceramic part that holds the lightbulb and the wires going into that seem to have been put in by some gadget that flared out inside the cermanic part so there is are little holes with a gold circle where the wires fit into. I can't get the wires out of this little ceramic part because there is no way to do it. Along with buying a two wired part with a new chain in, must I also buy a new ceramic part that the bulb fits into also? According to the clerk in the hardware store this was a simple job that was to last not more than five minutes. Now I have the insides of my kitchen light/fan hanging down, the electricity is off for that area of the house and I am totally flustrated and about to call in an electrician which will cost me an arm and a leg.

If you know the brand of fan you own you are better off with OEM parts. The folks at hardware stores try their best but not all pulll chain switches fit all fans.
