Recessed Lighting Placement

Asked Feb 10, 2008, 12:30 PM — 1 Answer
When installing 6" IC Recessed lighting cans, it's my understanding the the "can" part of the light can actually come into contact with fiberglass insullation due to the IC rating. What about other materials such as a PVC bathroom drain from the floor above? I'm installing four lights in a new room in my basement and the "perfect" location for the last light to keep them all uniform puts it about 1" off of an existing PVC drain.

Thanks!

IC means it may come in contact with combustibles. 1 " away from a PVC line is fine.
