    Material list for 400 amp service
    Can anyone help me come up with a complete list of materials needed for a residential 400 amp service?>? I'm taking electrical classes at a community and technical college and as many electricians know, the codebook is a to work with sometimes.

    Well, for starters. Is this for a course or a personal project?

    Second, if we are to help what's your current list look like. Are you supposed to include tools?

    Underground? Overhead? Mast through roof? Where does the specification end? Up to the main panel? Breakers? Load calcs?

    Under a driveway? How much conduit?

    Or are you looking for just some sort of generic checklist?

    Something like this (new outside basement outlet)

    1. wire
    2. GFCI recept
    3. Outdoor Cover
    4. Waterproof box
    5. Wirenuts
    6. Ground pigtails
    7. Breaker
    8. Conduit?
    9. Conduit fittings?

    Tools?
    Thinks like hammer drill, chisel, caulk, drill etc.

    You will NOT find any information about material lists in the code book. This is not within the scope of that publication.

    If you are taking a class don't they teach you things first and then you use that knowledge to do the homework??
    Do they want you to build a material list without teaching you how first??

    Besides, as KISS said, it is impossible to build a list from the question you asked. In fact it is likely impossible without a site visit or plans.

    The way you asked the question is like asking what do I need for a tune up on my truck... without telling us what kind of truck it is.
