I have a relatively new 100 amp service panel with breakers installed by an electrician in my 1950s Bungalow. I replaced most of the wiring throughout the house - most of which was ungrounded. I also replaced most of the switches and outlets. I installed some new recessed lighting. I get a light flicker when my a/c, washer, dryer, or frig kick on. The washer and dryer are on a separate circuit dedicated only to those to pieces of equipment. Same with the a/c and frig - do not share with any lights or outlets. Does that mean the problem lies within the service panel? I may hire an electrician to look at my issue if it does not cost too much money, but do you have any advice short of getting an electrician?

Having all the apliances on separate circuits, and having lights flicker is a symptom of a problem in the service panel, meter, or even the connections outside from the utility.

There is not much you can check, unless you have training to open and work inside a panel. The utility needs to be called in to open the meter, you should have them check their connections also, while they are there.

I recommend to call in an electrician, if you perception is that his cost is too much, how much is your house worth? Owning a home requires spending money for maintenance and repairs. No mechanical system lasts forever, and will need attention frtom time to time.
