My remote for my Hunter ceiling fan stopped working so I bought a Hunter universal remote control. The color wires do not match up. My fan has 6 wires, a black strip, yellow, pink, gray, red and white. My new remote has 5 wires, red (light), 2 white (neutral, common), 2 black (live in, fan). I am not sure what hook up as far as colors from the old fan to the new remote. I do not know what the colors of the wire on the fan are for. I am not sure what the color of the fan wires might reflect

A fan with 6 wires will require an exact replacement receiver. You will need to contact Hunter for that.
