    Hunter ceiling fan- new light bulbs don't work
    Can anyone help me?
    We are trying to replace the bulbs on our ceiling fan/light. The bulbs that came out were 120v/60w torchierre style. Same thing that I replaced them with. The new bulbs fit perfectly and are a perfect match to the old ones. Problem is that the lights won't turn on. The fan works, no problem there. So I know there is power to the fixture. But no matter what I do I can't get the light to turn on. I tried messing with the pull chain, but absolutely no light.
    HELP! My hubby is about to rip the thing out and put up a new one! Oh yeah, did I mention that this light worked JUST FINE before the bulbs burned out?

    Anything for a wee Irish Lass!

    Make sure that the fan and the light package are actually on the same circuit. Is there a GFCI Outlet in the immediate vicinity? If there is, check to see if it needs to be reset.

    Now, why did you replace the blubs in the first place? Did your husband wake up and decide that since he had a choice of an autopsy or change the bulbs he would change the bulbs or was there another reason?

    Well, we replaced the bulbs because they were burnt out. I did finally get a hold of Hunter, and they said that the receiver needed replacement. So, I wait for the $20 part. I will ask hubby about the GFCI outlet thingy... He would love to find a reason not to replace the receiver as it requires the light/fan to be removed from the ceiling!

    And to the next poster, yes, it is a remote fan. This is supposedly what caused the burnout, the remote receiver can pick up from 50ft away. So I guess the more remotes that in use in the house, the more quick it burns out.?. I don't know, that's what the lady said.

    Let's think about this. I've seen a series of bulbs fry right in front of you and it's a memorable event.

    What you are describing does not make sense to me. You are telling us that over some period your light powered cycled enough times to toast the filaments on the bulbs and you never saw the light on when it should be off? I'da had Ghost buster's over for a pint while I watched for the light show.

    Your problems may not be resolved by just replacing the remote unit. If your unit is picking up someone else's signal, you may have to change the position on your receiver.

    I think you are being led down the path by the vendor but I hope you enjoy the adventure.

    No kidding... I already made sure I can return the part, with no restocking fee, etc, etc...

    As far as the lights going out, there are 3 bulbs, and they burnt out one by one. So, I figure they are just burnt out. Like lightbulbs tend to. Duh. Problem came when the new bulbs were put in and nothing happened. The rep said that may happen if the receiver is dead. Well, we will see. A $20 part is preferable to a $100 (or however much they go for) fan.

    Like I said, we will see.

    Hunter is correct.

    Sometimes, when a lightbulb blows on a remote fan, it shorts out the receiver. The receiver then needs to be replaced. This sucks, because you don't want to be replacing a $20-40 part every time a bulb burns out, but then again, don't buy remote fans.
