conduit usage

Is it ok to use EMT conduit for outside locations? I am using water tight connectors and couplings, but need to know if I should use EMT or rigid conduit.

I would use Schedule 40 PVC, Schedule 80 is thicker(stronger), but you lose some inside diameter.

some cities donot allow the use of pvc or emt for outdoor, only rigid (aluminum or gav) permit

I'm in South Florida, and PVC is the method, They found Metal conduit and Aluminum do bad things near saltwater(rust/corrode), I am curious where you can't use PVC?

The only reason I can think of--for not using PVC or EMT--is for extra protection from physical damage. In addition: EMT from severe corrosive conditions.

****What's considered protected from physical damage: Only the AHJ can make this call. Sometimes it's common sense!

I'm with Strat,

I would run PVC if allowed per code.
