Nothing good. Call an electrician ASAP. Don't touch that light switch.

Could be as simple as a loose connection inside the switch box, and will require an electrician to repair.

Is this a dimmer type switch? Dimmer switches will be warm to the touch when on. How warm depends on the number and size of the lights.
