    Harbor breeze ceiling fans troubleshooting
Our fan and light worked fine up to about three months ago when the light stopped working. I removed the bulb, thinking it needed replacement but it looked fine. It was tested at the hardware store and they confirmed nothing is wrong with it. Remote shows ability to adjust level but nothing happens. Any ideas?

So putting a new bulb in the socket makes no difference. How handy are you, we can have you do several tests if you know what you are doing. The reason I ask is because you took the bulb to a hardware store to see if it works??

Probably something shorted in the receiver.

    Does the fan have pullchains?

I'm pretty handy, and no, after the hardware store tested the bulb (I had a new one in my hand, at the cashier when the floor person spoke to me)) and said it was fine, I didn't see where I needed to purchase one (Visually it looked that all the filaments were intact too).

It doesn't have a pull chain.

I was wondering if perhaps the "dip switches" may have been inadvertently changed when the battery was changed (But do not recall it occurred than).

One site suggested checking the connections, but before doing that (As I'd have to drop the unit) I was looking for other possible causes.

If the fan works fine, it wouldn't be the dip switches.

Rarely do bulbs actually look bad. Try that bulb in another fixture and confirm its good. Put a tester in the socket to see if you have power, if not put your test leads on the white and the bulb wires coming out of the receiver, got power there? If no the receiver is bad
