There is a black and a white wire from the ceiling.

The remote has, on one side a black and a white for AC in (so connect to the above 2 from the ceiling). On the other side there are a black, a white and a blue wire.

The fan has a black, a black and white and a white wire.

Presumably I connect the blacks together, the whites together and what about the blue with the black and white, connect them together too?

There are 2 'light' switches at the entrance to the room. I presume one works the fan and the other may activate another wall plug somewhere but I do not know.

I have wired the remote and fan as described above and it doesn't work?

Installing a previous fan I simply connected the roof black to the fan black then the roof white to the fan's blackwire and blue wire and it works fine.
