I am installing a light kit on my outdoor ceiling fan. Should the white block holding all of the wires be removed? Or should I just plug in the two wires on the light kit into the block? How will I know positive from negative? Thanks.

I conected the light kit quick connect, to fan, white to white and blue to black and the lights do not work. It did not seem to connect any other way. Have I missed a step? I have lost the instructions.
