    Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan
I have a Hampton Bay Ceiling fan with remote. My light went out for the first time after 3 years. I can not fiqure out how to get to the bulb to change it and no longer have the manual. The serial # is AER52WW5LKRC. It says open with an arrow but it won't come off. Any suggestions. Home Depot has a similar model but it no longer opens the same way.

    Re: Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan
    Joseph,

I just went through the same problem. First, let's make sure we have the same fan. Odd how Hampton Bay doesn't make it easy to identify the model.

Mine is a modern looking fan. No ornamentation except the small Hampton Bay logo. It has five long plastic blades. My fan is white, but I think it's also available in black and maybe stainless. The light is embedded in the bottom of the fan and covered with white. Frosted glass dome.

First, here's what NOT to do. DON'T unscrew the bottom-most metal ring. It took me 45 minutes to get it back in place.

The glass dome is removeable. If you grasp the bottom-most metal ring with fingers of both hands, putting pressure in toward the center of the fan, you can use your thumbs to generate friction on the dome and rotate it clockwise to remove it.

Once you remove the dome, the bulb is easy to remove. It has two metal clips and it is plugged into some electronic doodad.

In my fan, I gently unplugged the bulb and pulled the blub from the metal clips. The plug is right next to the bulb rather than next to the doodad.

    Good luck.

    Steve
