Running Conduit

Im about to run my feeder into my new workshop and was wondering when I drill down through the bottom plate and bring in my feeder, whats the codes say about this part of the wire having to be in conduit?. I mean the part from the floor up to the bottom of my panel?

Also, is it within code to use plain 12 awg (green) for pigtails on the grounds?? I cant find plain copper in 12awg. Prolly a stupid question there, but I just wanted to know. LOL

Ground can be green or bare. I would just run Conduit to panel, If PVC You can heat to make an offset, If Metal, you may need a bender.
It can also be solid or stranded.
