100 amp v. 200 amp wiring

Hello, my family is buying an older home and part of the purchase is to update the existing 100 amp wiring. Is is worth upgrading to 200 amp. service?
The house is a victorian style that will be divided into two units of 1500 sq. ft. each.
Thanks

Absolutely!

Why is this part of the purchase? Was the service installed wrong or something?
