Garage Door

I am having a problem with my garage door. It does not matter what remote I use or If I use the key pad. The door will stop opening 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 of the way from opening up. Light works, and if you hit the button again, the door does go back down. If I keep trying, it will eventually open all the way up. Please shed some light on what is going wrong and how to fix it. Thanks alot.

Could be the clutch is out of adjustment. Is there a hole in the back with a nut inside? Try tightening it a few turns. You want it just tight enough that it seldom stops in normal operation, but stops if it hits something. Actually, I think it should reverse when it hits something.

Also, disconnect the opener, and see if the door works freely. The opener is no cure for a poorly adjusted, difficult to work door.
