We have just tried to turn on our electric baseboard heat for the season and only one room comes on. There is a thermostat in every room and I can hear them click but no heat is generating. What can be wrong?? We have checked the breakers and they are on and have juice. Please someone HELP me! I have a small child that needs heat... Thanks

Electric heat is usually 240 volts, so beware.

Many electric heat problems is caused by a wire broken off at the heating element, usually on the left side. The thermostats are usually well made and last. Elements burn out, but are rare.

Attaching the wire again is very difficult, and repairs usually don't last and new element is needed. A temporary repair is to attach the wire to the element tip using a barrel or buttsplice crimp, and squeeze hard on the element.

This will last a good while, but needs to be replaced.

Really worth having a pro take care of this, unless you own your own home, and you feel comfortable working on wiring, shut the 240 volt power off, have the proper crimp and crimp tool.

A new 8 foot baseboard heat is about $40 and takes less than an hour, but plan on a min service call charge plus materials.
