Converting manual fan to remote control

Hey All

I have a ceiling fan in my room with manual controls. Nothing fancy, just on and off for the light and 3 speeds for the fan. There is a reverse switch too, but i've never touched that.

My question is, is it possible for me to convert the manual fan to be remote controlled? If so, what stuff would i need to buy? Im guessing since that everything is already manual, i cant just connect a reciever to it and have it work, but rather some additional wiring and electronics would be required.

Im relatively inexperienced with electronics, but since i still have two months till school starts, i have plenty of time to learn.

Thanks for reading

Victor

Re: Converting manual fan to remote control

Ther are generic remote controls on the market. This will give you speed control and dimming ability. However if you want reversing you must use the same manufactures remote.
