    Ceiling Fan Light Does Not Work
    I have a Hunter ceiling fan with 4 lights. One of the bulbs crackled a few times, popped and burned out. I replaced the bulb, but the new ones (I've tried several) do not work. Is there some kind of short in that receptacle? If so, can it most likely be fixed? Or, do I need to replace the entire lightning unit (don't know if that's possible), or the fan itself?

    Check the unit if okey using ohmeter

    YOu can try (with the power off) cleaning the metal tabs at the back of the sockets, and bending them forward. Otherwise you can replace the sockets themselves.

    Hi,

    Just a word of warning, NEVER test resistance (Ohms) with power on. Both the meter and you will get bit by the electric snake.

    If you have a wall switch for the lights, turn it of. Then start your testing by checking voltage levels. On the failing bulb, place the black probe behind the threaded portion of the socket and the Red probe against the contact at the bottom center of the socket. Have someone turn on the light switch for you.

    Did you get a reading of 120VAC or slightly lower? If yes, then you have voltage to the bulb socket. Then the switch off, remove the meter probes and then turn the light on again. Did the bulb function properly?

    I've seen this problem many many times, it's the sockets. Voltage will probably still read though.

    I have a Harbor Breeze ceiling fan and everything was set up correctly and everything worked for almost a year and last night after a nap the lights wouldn't come on. I check the light bulbs they work fine, the fan itself still works perfectly but the lights will not come on at all for any of the 4 lights. I also checked the wiring from the light kit to the fan and the wiring fom the fan to the ceiling and its all done the way its supposed to be.. what can the issue be?
