ceiling fan humming ut not spinning

hello I switched the rotation of my ceiling fan and now it will not spin either way but it does hum so i know it is trying any idea how i can fix tis i checked all the leads on the switch that changes the rotation of the fan and they are all connected thanks for your help Jester

P.D. I dont know what kind of fan it is i cant find anything on it but i love the fan and dont want to replace it if i dont have to

ceilingfanrepair Electrical & Lighting Expert Join Date: Feb 2006 Location: Madison, WI Posts: 4,911	Chances are the reverse switches is not seated firmly in the up or down position but is somewhere in the middle.
