    Ceiling Fan don't turn
I took blades down to spring clean and reverse the blade to other color after putting them back up they don't turn? I can hear and feel the humming of the motor but the blades don't move. Can anyone help? Thanks, Becca.

Can you turn the blades by hand or is the unit frozen up?

    Blades move freely.

This sounds like a bad capacitor but reversing the blades would not have caused a failure, could be a coincidence.

I purchased a Hampton Bay ceiling fan, no remote. The pull chain for the light works but the pull chain for the fan does not. The motor hums but no movement in blades. I can move the blades manually but they appear stiff.

    Thanks for your help

Just take it back if you are just installing a new fan. Also, you should be starting your own post by clicking ASK at the top of the page. You will draw more attention and answers by going new.

In both cases, check the reverse switch first.
