Air compressor ac motor flips breaker after delay
Hello thank you for taking the time to look/answer my question. That being said my problem is with a ac motor for a air compressor it worked fine then all of a sudden it started to throw the breaker. It will start and run fine for about 5-7 seconds then it will flip the breaker. Any advise will be appreciated.

Here are some specs for the motor

    a.o.smith
    115v
    15a
    3450rpm
    Model#d24228
    Ph 1

I believe it to be single phase but not sure it does have two capacitors
    Thank you

You may want to swap the wire to another breaker of the same size to determine if the breaker is OK.

Check the breaker for a loose wire connection and be sure the tab the breaker plugs onto is clean. Check the underneath of the breaker where the jaws plug onto the tab in the panel. Any looseness or corrosion will create heat that can trip the breaker.

OK then the motor is getting hot or overloading for some reason. Need to have it checked out. Check that rotation is proper. If you have an amp-probe, you can check the starting and running amps. This is similar to having your blood pressure check, without measuring the amps, everything is nothing but a guess.

My problem is the main breaker in the house will flip off before any of the smaller specific breakers flip off. Something is getting overloaded but the smaller breakers are not taking the load.
