2 main panels from 1 200 amp service
Can I have the main 200 amp service and off the lugs on top run wire to another main panel instead of sub panel?

I too know that you cannot do that, but wonder why you would even want to do that instead of a sub panel?

And can somebody else please explain why we cannot do that aside from the fact that your 200 amp service can't be split past the meter base to make 2 200 amp services (The electric company would have to run new wire and the meter base would have to be upgraded to to safely bring more then 200 amps to your house).

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong (nobody should quote what I said above unless a reputable person agrees with me)
