110v from a older three wire 220v circuit
I have an older home that has a 220v outlet for a dryer that is not being used. The three wires are a white, a black, and a bare wire ground. (no forth wire)

I would like to use this circuit for a 110v outlet. The "dual space" breaker for this circuit has the white wire on one connection and the black on the other. I would imagine that the bare ground is connected in the center of the box above all of the breakers - where I see all of the other whites and grounds for the rest of the house wired.

I was hoping to find a four wire 220 circuit and everything would be just fine...

    Thanks:confused:

If you have a 4 wire dryer, you can connect to this, providing they are #10 wires.
You would install 3 wire receptacle and 3 wire cord on dryer.
If in conduit could pull in extra wire.
If you want to change to 120. Black will go to single pole 20 Amp breaker, white to neutral bar(whites) and green or bare to ground.
