    For AC wiring you can reference the national electric code.
    14 gauge 15 amps, 12 gauge 20 amps, 10 gauge 30 amps,
    8 gauge 40 amps, I can tell you more but at this point you are starting to get in the range where if you aren't well qualified you can due serious damage to yourself, others not to mention property.

    Consult your local electrical code or the Natilnal Elecrical Code.. or your cable manufacturer's manual
