Why does my dog still pee in the house?
I have a male dog who's 7 years old and he still pees in the house. Someone told me that if I get him neutered this will stop. Is this true?

I had my dog for 2yrs before I got him done and I noticed a change in a lot of his behaviour.

He no longer went toilet in the house, he didn't stray too far from our property and the best thing.. he stoppped humping visitors!

I don't know if it was because I had him fixed, but it all happened around the same time

I think, from experiences, that your dog is just plain lazy!

    Not at all.

There are many behavioral problems that can cause a dog to do this.

You may have left it too late with the neutering, it is best to get it done when the dog is under 2 years of age to have a significant benefit but it may help so it would be worth trying.

What breed of dog is it?
There are a few breed that to be honest are just plain dirty... I owned a shih tzu until she was 3 years old and she never went a day without weeing in the house.

You can try constant training... buy an enzyme based cleaner to remove any odor from the carpet so she is discouraged to go there again.

Buy some puppy training pads... if she is reluctant to go outside then this would be a suitable alternative...
Puppy pads are cloth pads with plastic backing and they eliminate urine odor.

It might not look the best having a white pad I the corner of the room, but I'm sure it would be easier to just throw them out and replace them than cleaning the carpet all the time!

I suggest cleaning as well as training and neutering. Dogs will continue to pee where they have preciously because they can smell it. You've got to get the smell out.
