When to fix chihuahua?

I recently bought a female chihuahua from a couple who got her from another couple. What a mess. They weren't sure when she got her shots last, how old she really is, and they said she has been in heat once. Well I've only owned male dogs and didn't know anything about a her being in heat. But when we received Layla she was in heat and a week later she was bleeding. We would like to get her spayed and not sure when we should do this. She has been moved around so much that we just want her to be spayed and live a long happy life with our family. We don't know anything about chihuahua's except that our neighbor said she is an american chihuahua. Someone please help let us know what to do!!!! Thanks

Call your vet. They will want to examine her & update her shots. I expect they will be able to do the surgery once she is out of heat (which usually lasts about three weeks).
I'm sure she will be glad to finally settle down and be a part of a loving family.

If she has been in heat she is well ready to be spayed. Call your vet to set up the appt.
