| Never give a dog Ibuprofen or acetophen. In general, it is best not to give a dog anything not recommended by your vet. Just because somebody else's vet once said to give a dog something in a particular case, doesn't mean it is safe or effective for your dog. You can give a dog up to 5 mg per pound of body weight of aspirin every 8 hours, preferably buffered aspirin. Doing so is best limited to cases where you can't contact a vet at the time. When you do get the dog to the vet, be sure and tell the vet about it, less it confuses things. |
