suddenly changed from a playful pup to a crazy dog

12 year old foxterrier.

My dog is usually very playful, but I recently took him to the vets and apparently he has a stomach infection. He is not his usual bouncy self and I am very worried?

My dog gave birth to a puppy that came feet first, the pup an over grown tongue and she bite the cord off and then bit it off again and the puppy bled to death. Why would she do this.
