I have a 7 month old St Bernard that up till now was eating everything that was given to him. I do not feed him table scraps at all, and wont! He loves carrots, broccoli, lettuce and all types of veggies which he gets on a regular basis! He eats 9 cups of Purina dog chow food everyday plus his treats of veggies. He ate his last meal at 5pm yesterday and has not eaten anything since. I havent even had to refil his water dish either, so i see he isnt drinking either. When we woke up this am, he vomitted x2 and it was yesterdays kibble. About 2 hours later i saw him chucking up again and this time it was bile, yellow! Than later he vomitted again and it was clear with a bit a white foam. I have tried to give him treats and i added milk to his food today to get him to eat he just walked away. I just now broke down and tried to give him some ham lunchmeat and he grabbed it, dropped it and walked away.
His nose is warm to the touch allthough he has been trying to play with us all day today. He has been laying down more today though than normal.
Could it be the heat? Its been in the 90's here and our AC is not working, but we have fans to help keep us all cool...he has been panting alot but that is typical for the heat and the dog in the this heat. I am just so worried abou this and really hope that things are ok or at least can be resolved!
Please let me know if you help me at all!! I will update you if he decides to eat anything at all or if i notice him drink anything too. He has had 2 bowel movements today, both were solid...so i have no clue here....

Could be the heat, or could be a virus. Try wetting him down. Letting him swim is the best way if he likes to. This is best an outside activity. A huge wet dog with a heavy coat could make a mess of the house.

Is he a chewer? Any fresh shreds? They can block the dogs digestive system.

Don't let the weekend catch you with a sick dog and no vet.

Well i just got back from the vet, seems as though someone lied to me when i bought him! They said they had taken him to their vet an dhad all his shots and all up to date. Come to find out he has CPV now which is Canine Parvo for those who dont know.
I use to be a vet tech so i asked for the IV set up to take home and i am now giving him 800 cc's T.I.D and some electolyte supplement with some antibiotics and some vomitiming control meds.
With lots of love and lots of work, we are going to beat this! I know it!!

Thank god we caught it early. Hopefully early enough for him to make a full recovery!!
Thanks to all who read my post. I couldnt wait any longer, the not knowing was killing me and me seeing him sick was worrying me the most!!

Please stick around. There are a lot of medical questions here I can't answer. I am sure my usual advice to see a local vet is best in many cases, but even helping sort the run to the vet quickly and wait a day or 2 would help. I have a lot of experience and traioning with dogs, but by starting with healthy puppies, being careful what I expose them to, and maintaining a good shot program, I don't pick up much medical experience. Don't use it enough to remember what I have read.

That didn't sound like the typical symptoms of parvo. Perhaps it hits older dogs differently.

unfortunatly, with cpv, you have to wait and see if your puppy will fully recover. as a breeder, i cannot stress enough the importance of proper care and vaccination. in the future, please make sure you always recieve a copy of the vaccination records. if they claim to "do the vaccinations at home" like i do, ask for proof (labels from the vaccine viles, a store receipt). i always affix the peel off labels to the buyers contract. many breeders will lie about vaccinations by saying they do it themselves. be aware. good luck.
