Sleepy puppy

I just got a 6 month Bichon Frise, he sleeps ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT. He gets up for a couple of hours and is not hyper or anything. Is this normal?

Normally by 5 months, a puppy is fairly active. What are you feeding him? He should be on a puppy chow and little else. Most dogs will thrive on most commercial dog chows. All but the cheapest of modern dog chows are carefully formulated to provide the complete and balanced diet dogs need. Puppy chows are optimized for fast growth. Too fast of growth leads to joint problems in larger breeds.

You might discuss this problem with your vet too. It could be one more clue to his other problems.

When was the last time your puppy was at the vet's office? What type of deworming skd, vaccinations, and exposure to other dogs does he have? WHat type of food is your puppy eatting?
