Yes , check your air for dirt and debris . This is usually the cause .

Okay all mowers push or rider have a way to throttle them up .

All mowers have a throttle control , what kind do you have .
I run mine at 3400 rpms .

Your feet will tingle a lot , like they are a sleep.
You will be thirsty , and have to pee a lot .
If it gets to high will can cause blurring vision .

I agree with Crigby , the ones I see sticking in valve guides is usually cause from engine running hot. Two things cause this , head fins clogged not allowing ,air flow to cool . Or running high...

Check the reverse check valve on top of the transmission .

Check fuel solenoid on bottom of carb.

Needs new drive belts , make sure you replace both .

Check pushrods , and or valve clearance .

Remove air filter and spray a little carb cleaner in throat of carb.
If it starts for a second still fuel trouble , if not check for fire .

Check the diodes going to the coil .

Check your block breather , sounds like its clogged . Or could be oil ring.

Sounds like the solenoid is bad . Not starting ? Would help if we had a model and serial number .

Sounds like needle valve in carb is stuck.
Removed carb check or replace needle valve.

Have you had either one of the back wheels off ?

Sounds like it has a air leak on the intake.
Check and make sure carb is bolted down tight ,then check isolator that carb bolts to.
Remove top cover start saw and spray around the carb mounting...

Make sure the head gasket isn't blocking the oil return hole in the head.

Check the high speed rpms , and make sure its running at max , speed,
But its on the engine side not the generator.
It does sound like carb trouble.

Replace fuel solenoid on carb bowl.

If it's a auto choke ,could be the spring on the choke
Pull off breather and housing , u should be able to see all then.

What model troy bilt do you have ?

You set the timing by moving the points in or out .
There is a sight window on the blower housing , look through the hole find the S on the flywheel mark with white chalk .

Rod should be on left side of deck.
When released should be loose enough to put belt on.

Take muffler off and look at the exhaust ports.
Premium gas bad , need low octane.
Higher octane will run to hot and score cylinder.
Check fuel lines and make sure there are no cracks.

I agree with Clarke, But I would also have the valve clearance checked.

Needs to be flashed , take it to a dealer and they should be able to do this.

You have to remove them , grind them down and check them a little at a time.

I've been running mine for four years without one .I work on newer mowers every day some have it some don't .

Doesn't take much in the carbs now days.
I soak them over night , works most of the time.
Might take the fuel solenoid out cut the tip off and put it back in.

Check for oil leaks ,engine could be sucking air in , which would cause pressure in crankcase instead of vacuum .

I wouldn't cross any wire unless I was sure what they go too.
Could be the brushes are wore out.

Check and make sure grass didn't wrap around top of head.
Does motor still rev up ?
