Red itchy ears but not ear mites
I have a red bone coon/ grey hound pup. I have taken her to the vet and got medicine but it did not help at all. My pup has a left red itchy ear but it is not ear mites. He gave me a medicine for yeast and infection but it is not working. Has any one ever had this problem? Please help before I spend another 100 dollars for nothing.

My moms dogs ear started like that and ended up being a broken blood vessel.. which resulted in surgery, meds and a long road to recovery... Don't want to scare you but keep an eye on it if it gets thick and heavy than that may be your culprit.. Try not to let him scratch it as that makes it worse and if it isn't a ruptured vessel extreme scratching could cause it to be... I would go to another vet for second oppin
    Good luck

Why are you so sure it is not ear mites? Maybe a couple of days of applying oil, mineral oil, baby oil, cooking oil, whatever. If that doesn't help, back to the vet.

The vet told me it wasn't ear mites but this med is not working. Her ear gets red on the inside and she itches it like a rash. The vet didn't say what it was he just gave her a shot and some antibio but it won't go away. Please help

I haven't seen the ear, or looked at a scraping under the microscope, but your description sounds like ear mites to me. Swabbing it with oil will clear it right up if it is. If not, you still have time this week to go back to the vet or ot another one.
